Love Seats

Spotted this pair of adorable chairs on the sidewalk outside one of my favorite stores on the downtown mall in Charlottesville-- Artifacts.

If you're ever in Cville, swing by 109 First Street South and browse through owner Todd Hill's fun selection of gorgeous antiques and accessories to fill your home.

Bust it

My sister and I recently uncovered three large boxes of old school mix tapes in our parent's attic. That's right, cassette tapes. Hundreds. Hilarious does not even to begin to describe the epic trip down memory lane, as most were created during the late middle school/ early high school years (circa 1990- 1995, respectively).

When I ran across this "mix tape" challenge earlier today, I immediately thought of a few gems in our collection. Dust of the Sam and Libby's, J. Crew barn jackets, Guess jeans, Duckhead shorts and Benetton bags-- we're going back to public school junior high. Volume UP.

I still know every word to this song:

Wonder where they are now? Also notice the UNC/Duke jersey faux pas:

Youtube and Jacko won't let me embed this one... I was totally obsessed with this video.

I think I know several dance routines to this song:

EPIC...

And finally, for my east coast family:

Cover Girl

My old college roommate's apartment was recently featured in Charlotte's Home and Garden Magazine. Needless to say, this is a far cry from our freshman year dorm room (despite her better efforts!).

It's colorful, fun, meticulous (that's my girl), interesting, thoughtful, glamorous and super stylish. Most of all, it's a true reflection of who she is and I absolutely love everything about it. Here's a peek:

J. Crew Fall 2009

(Image via jcrewaholics.com)

Note: I'm not ready for it to get cold again, but I love the look of the J.Crew fall collection. Check out the skirt and the fur jacket in this pic... and of course, ALL of the jewelry in the photo gallery.

J Crew Icon Trench

The best thing about going home to Lynchburg, Virginia (other than visiting my family) is the J.Crew factory outlet. I stopped in this afternoon and picked up the icon trench for $120. Retails in the store for around $350. Sweet.

If you live anywhere in a 8-hour driving radius of Lynchburg, let me know... I'll give you directions.

Oh Sister Where Art Thou?

(Image via cupcakes and cashmere)

The girl in this photo from Cupcakes and Cashmere looks exactly like my sister (dress, hair, band in hair, everything) on any given day of the week.

Have a great weekend

I think I'd like to live in this Dior commercial.   Forever.

Between my professional role as a planner and personal role as friend, I’ve been to almost every type of wedding reception imaginable. However, I love these images from my daily blog-read A Cup of Jo.

The custom dress by Brooklyn based designer Samuelle is effortless and chic. I imagine the newlyweds in this photo and their assembly of close friends walk to their favorite local restaurant for a late afternoon, wine soaked, delicious meal and then on to their favorite live music bar for dancing. Can I bring a date?

Piece ‘o Reese

Although she slightly resembles a long lost Olsen twin, I think Reese Witherspoon looks great on the cover of April Elle. Easy, simple, chic. A+

Going buckwild

I definitely have a thing for decorating with antlers, but this 300 point resin rack by Carolyn Salas is totally wild. This might give some people nightmares, but I (not so oddly) love it. It’s ridiculous and absurd and reminds me of my hunting-obsessed guy-friends from college. As Wardo might say, “it’s just pure nature!”

Well, almost…

Procrastinating is fun

File taxes or shop online?  Let’s call it “potential tax refund spending research”…

Love this dress from Thread Social on shopbop:

Only $260 on net-a-porter:

The Canon PowerShot G10 would be nice to have in addition to my pocket Elf:

A plane ticket purchase to go somewhere like this would be nice:

A watch would be practical small investment:

As a last resort, I guess I could put the money here:

Are you getting a tax return?  Are you spending or saving?

Turbo

Nothing like a fun-filled night of turbo tax… boo!

J Crew Red Glasses

I think these red glasses from J.Crew would make paying Uncle Sam way more fun.  Would you wear eyeglasses if you didn’t need prescription?

Dear wardrobe gods,

Once, just once, I would like to emerge from my apartment looking like this for work.

May 11th

Thanks to an amazing friend here in Cville, we just got tickets to see K'naan and Snoop May 11th in Richmond!

I've never had the honor of seeing the D-O-double-G in person, but let's just say this-- it will be a well documented adventure...

I wear boots everyday, everywhere, to work, going out, running errands, with jeans, with dresses, with leggings, to the gym…

Kidding about the last one, but you get the idea. I love the pairs I own, but like everything else, I am growing tired of pulling them on for the 1,000th time this month.

We’re all trying to save where we can these days, so instead of buying a brand new pair, give your plastic a break with this very cool look-for-less accessory from the gals at 2 Bandits. I love the revolver and Indian chief… wonder if they could do a monogram?
