Having friends all over the world makes me feel ultra-fancy. I met Zeynep at a friend's wedding last summer in Istanbul, and we've stayed in touch ever since. Designer (see above), trained chef (Cordon Bleu), world traveler-- I would love to live in her suitcase. And eat in her kitchen. And hang out in her closet. And oh yeah, go back to Istanbul. Need a roommate?
What does a Turkish globe-trotter want in her suitcase this fall? Read on.

As for my favorite must-haves...
1. A trench coat, preferably from Burberry. Not so economical but it's a timeless classic and will always be in style. You can wear your mum's and your daughter can wear yours.

2. A Crossbody Bag from Coach

Depending on your budget you can try more modest or upscale brands. I personally find this type of bag an indispensable part of a working, traveling, modern-day, city woman's wardrobe. It's practical and safe-- especially if you are living in cosmopolitan, diverse cities like Istanbul and New York.
3. Leggings. They are my new "jeans". I use them with flats, heels, boots...I can wear them underneath a dress (to keep me warm) or with a chunky long sweater for a more avant-garde, European look. Most importantly, you can put them on even if you gain a couple of pounds.... :)

4. A scarf, a stole... to complement your look. You can use it to add color to your outfit and it also keeps you warm.

5. I'm planning to buy myself a pair of Hunter boots for rainy days.

6. I love Muji. Not sure if you are familiar with this brand, but they have the most practical, modern stuff esp. for travelers.
