Bono Alert

U2 is in Cville tomorrow night and I can’t freaking wait.

I’ve never seen them before and I hear the 360 tour is amazing.   I drove past Scott Stadium earlier today and saw the monstrous alien claw over the 50-yard line.

Awesome.   U2

I’m hoping from this location I can get a good look at Bono’s shades and The Edge in all his Edge-y-ness.

Full report Friday.

Brief Intermission/ Best Reality Show Ever

Sorry for the lack of posts this week.  Work is a little OOC right now.  But hey, it’s good to be busy, right?

Speaking of jobs, totally awesome jobs, I just read something on Design Sponge about this new show on Sundance

man shops globe

This show flows Keith Johnson, buyer-at-large for Anthropologie, as he travels the world to find all those wonderful things I want to buy in that store.

I love the jewelry on Cerulean, especially these cool wrap bracelets. They're definitely " fall tough" and kind of remind me of something Ben would wear on his wrist back in the early OC-days. I would be lying if I didn't mention that I have a soft spot for that show. First season.

Effortless Fall Chic of the Day

Katie Holmes effortless chic fall

I'm totally loving Katie Holmes's look at the opening of her new clothing line, Holmes and Yang.  Especially digging the navy blue suede heels.

You could definitely put together a similar look with my fav pixie pants.

Fall is all about getting outside.   Lindsey Grossman, editor of Breathe Magazine, is all about finding eco-friendly pieces that accommodate an active lifestyle—without sacrificing style.   Needless to say, her lifestyle is about to get a lot more active, as she’s due to have her first child next week.   (!)

Read on.

The one thing I’ve missed almost as much as wine since I’ve been pregnant is shopping for “normal” clothes. And since I’m due in a week (!) I still have a ways to go before fitting back into my regular wardrobe. My favorite finds are vintage pieces but here’s some of the new stuff for the season that I’m coveting, each of which fit into my new mom-friendly budget (under $100) and will work with both my pre- and post-baby weight.

Prana Willow Dress

This wrap dress is perfect for a fluctuating figure, plus I love that it comes in plum – I don’t always love the color trends but am thrilled that berry and jewel tones are in. Pair it with leggings and flats or a long cardigan and tall boots.

Gentle Current Cardigan

I love the draping of this slouchy sweater. It would add a hint of sophistication when layered over a simple long-sleeve tissue tee and dark jeans.

Berkeley Satchel

This bag from Big Buddha incorporates two of my favorite fall trends in one: color and studs. A lot of people are afraid of yellow, but I think it goes with everything.

BabyLegs

I’m obsessed with all the funky patterns from BabyLegs. Great for mom as arm warmers (for in-between weather with a t-shirt or as an extra layer when it’s cold) and to keep baby’s legs warm without pulling on and off pants for diaper changes… or so I hear. Hopefully this will be the only item of clothing I ever share with my son!

Hemp Pocket Circle Scarf

I love the versatility of this scarf… worn like a cowl, around your head, shoulders, arms – plus the pockets add a dose of practicality (for keys, cell, pacifier, etc). Made from hemp/organic cotton fleece for equal parts coziness and eco-friendliness.

Friends making headlines

chris perot being awesome

Yeah, I'm really friends with her. And yeah, she really went to the IWBMC in Germany last week.

And no, she doesn't have a real mustache.

Here are few amazing photos ripped off her face page. Do you think these looks are more "everyday" or "special occasion?"

You know, at the end of the day, there's a place for everyone in this world.

Have a great weekend!

(Image here)

It is n-a-s-t-y outside.   And cold.   And this makes me happy, why?

A:  We can officially kick-off puffy vest season!!!!!  Yes!!!

(All J.Crew, all here)

Nothing makes me happier in the fall than wearing a puffy vest.  Well, maybe there are a few things… but it’s certainly a fall clothing staple.

More on that next week, as we will continue with the fall series and a list of my picks.    Hope you’ve enjoyed it so far.

I’m off to Hot Springs to “take the waters” and drink beers with Bath County’s finest at their local Octoberfest.   The puffy vest might be too dressy—we’ll see.

Have a great weekend!

All the Preggers Ladies

I have A LOT of pregnant friends right now… and this is how I think (and hope) a lot of their kids are going to turn out.  Hilarious.

I especially love the parents cracking up in the background.

Fall Series Guest Blogger - Zeynep Eken

n698250591_1025916_2249

Having friends all over the world makes me feel ultra-fancy. I met Zeynep at a friend's wedding last summer in Istanbul, and we've stayed in touch ever since. Designer (see above), trained chef (Cordon Bleu), world traveler-- I would love to live in her suitcase. And eat in her kitchen. And hang out in her closet. And oh yeah, go back to Istanbul. Need a roommate?

What does a Turkish globe-trotter want in her suitcase this fall? Read on.

As for my favorite must-haves...

1. A trench coat, preferably from Burberry. Not so economical but it's a timeless classic and will always be in style. You can wear your mum's and your daughter can wear yours.

2. A Crossbody Bag from Coach

(Images here)
Depending on your budget you can try more modest or upscale brands. I personally find this type of bag an indispensable part of a working, traveling, modern-day, city woman's wardrobe. It's practical and safe-- especially if you are living in cosmopolitan, diverse cities like Istanbul and New York.

3. Leggings. They are my new "jeans". I use them with flats, heels, boots...I can wear them underneath a dress (to keep me warm) or with a chunky long sweater for a more avant-garde, European look. Most importantly, you can put them on even if you gain a couple of pounds.... :)

4. A scarf, a stole... to complement your look. You can use it to add color to your outfit and it also keeps you warm.

5. I'm planning to buy myself a pair of Hunter boots for rainy days.

6. I love Muji. Not sure if you are familiar with this brand, but they have the most practical, modern stuff esp. for travelers.

I know we're all about fall shopping right now, but Jetsetter looks awesome. Is impulse travel more thrilling than impulse shopping on Gilt? We'll have to find out.
